hello, all

peter here

hope everyone is doing well, wherever in the world (literally) this finds you

so what's been going on? let's see, so much to tell

SAY UNCLE is opening the MADRID GAY AND LESBIAN FILM FESTIVAL on OCTOBER 31st

i'm thrilled, of course - and was all set for a week long trip to madrid, when i booked another job, so unfortunately, i've had to cancel my appearance at the festival (something i feel terrible about), but the film will still be there, plus i'll be sending some sort of greeting and gifts and things

the good news - very good news, to me anyway - is the reason i'm not available to travel to spain is... i'm doing THE HISTORY BOYS at the AHMANSON THEATRE in LOS ANGELES. it's an extraordinary play, and i've got a monster of a role. it's without a doubt one of the most difficult roles i've ever been given. we've just started rehearsals this week; the cast seems terrific and i'm already very fond of paul miller, the director, who was hand-picked by the national theatre in london to put the show together. it's all very exciting and very fucking scary. the show begins previews NOVEMBER 7th, officially opens NOVEMBER 14th, and closes DECEMBER 9th. Tickets are on sale now at www.CenterTheatreGroup.org.

what else, what else? well, i just directed my second feature - LEAVING BARSTOW, starring michelle clunie, who gives one of the best performances i've seen in years. honestly. it's one of those moments, those perfect marriages of actor and role that only come along every so often. the entire cast is pretty damn spectacular, if i do say so myself. i'm very proud of the film, which should be hitting the festival circuit early next year. i promise i'll let you know where and when.

my writing partner brad bredeweg and i have sold a pilot to E! the working title is THE KATIE MAY SHOW, and we're currently (on top of rehearsing the play and editing the film) doing rewrites on the script. again, i'll be sure to let you know as things develop.

but wait, there's more. i'm hosting the MATTHEW SHEPARD FOUNDATION HONORS event here in LA at the WILTERN THEATRE on OCTOBER 27th. this is an amazing organization, whose motto ERASE HATE is one of the easiest causes to get behind i've ever come across. for tickets, go to matthewshepard.org/honors.

i think those are the highlights for now. if i've forgotten anything, i'll let you know ASAP. now i've got to get in the shower and go rehearse this play.

all the best

be kind to one another

xoxo
peter
